Text description provided by the architects. Dealing with the current global situation, caused by something intangible causing big tangible problems, has led us to rethink virtual real estate as a new concept, in terms of architecture, because it seems likely to stay that way, leading rather a change in human behavior; we now find ourselves in a new “normal”, suburban towns have now been radically transformed, big cities, towns, streets, the world is entirely new, we are forced to stay at home, focusing on the importance of comfort a life adapted to our new lifestyles.

Take a close look at the houses as a basic cell of a larger system that needs a change in its policies. Understand that, in this new era, it is not the architecture that needs to be rethought, but the way of living.

By interpreting the home as a sacred space, our protective refuge, where every act is part of a ritual, we reclaim our sense of wonder. In our daily lives, the obvious little things around us are easily overlooked as they are usually overshadowed by the more overwhelming ones.

In the context of a time when one of the most important Big Data companies announces a new era accompanied by what they call the “Goal”, in which we will no longer have to travel to work, travel or coexist (everything will be within reach with the use of VR headsets), we were commissioned to remodel a space in the apartment of a building located on rue de Zurich, to transform it into a warmer place, where residents can find a sense of spirituality in the “chaos” of the city, through the renovation of a bedroom and a new home office space.

We seek to transmit this warmth by bringing more natural light into the room and using oak wood and indirect reflected light in warm tones. Through a rectangular window, divided into 4 parts, which lets in a beam of light that forms a cross in Dana’s room. The inhabitants are a family of four, a teenager and only child, Dana, her parents, and Rita, the French bulldog. They find moments of spirituality with the passage of natural light filtered through these 4 panels and of serenity with the use of wood through simple language.
