New Tequila-Heavy Mexican restaurant in Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Did you touch the bridge of Canteen Rio Tequila Again?

It’s only been open a month and is already buzzing with excitement among Mexican food lovers and margarita connoisseurs. If you’re a tequila snob, this might sound like your new hangout and “norm!”, where you have three bars to choose from and can swap the beer for a wide variety of tequila.

As his Facebook says, Canteen Rio Tequila is Portsmouth’s latest entry into the vibrant Seacoast restaurant scene, with traditional Mexican flavors and styles to complement its vivacious tequila and cocktail menu.

I have several friends who imagine themselves to be tequila aficionados, most falling on new love through restaurants like Rio Tequila Cantina. Well, either that or because of trips to Mexico, but I digress. What I can tell you is that when it comes to great tequila flights, tastings, and adventures from your standard or basic tequila, this is the kind of Mexican restaurant that counts for them.

For someone like me who isn’t a tequila snob, I’m going to focus on the waterside restaurants along Bow Street and choose from the insane amounts of salt or sugar choices for the rims of my margaritas on the rocks, please.

Mexican cuisine is definitely one of the most popular, and the number of Mexican restaurants never matters, because we can always use more.
