Mexican hotels have taken strict measures to ensure that their properties are safe for visitors. And Air Canada Vacations makes sure Canadians get there and back safely.

TravelPulse Canada editor-in-chief John Kirk and Jane Custer of TravelPulse in the United States participated in a panel discussion Tuesday with two senior executives of Mexican hotels and with the director of Air Canada Vacations. The program was called “Mexico Hotels – Above and Beyond the New Normal”.

The webinar was broadcast on the TravelPulse Canada Facebook page and can be viewed by registering here.

Luis Barrios, president of the Mexico Hotel Chains Association and president and CEO of Hoteles City Express, said Mexican hotels have consolidated best practices around the world to reduce risk for travelers.

Ninety percent of the hotels in his group are certified safe and healthy and the rest will be in the coming days, he said.

Canadians have a long-standing love affair with his country, and Barrios said that “Mexico’s arms are open to receive these markets, and make sure we will do our best to have the best standards and standards. to reduce the risk of COVID-19 contagion. “

Gonzalo Del Peon, president of AMResorts, said consumers could be confused by so many types of hotel safety and health protocols. customers know what they are getting.

He showed a video that explained how Mexican hotels offer the same warm welcome they have become famous for, but also with “the most recognized global standards”.

Hotel chains in Mexico “always put the safety, health and safety of travelers and hotel staff first, and at the heart of these protocols” with “improved cleanliness and best hygiene practices”.

Mexico is famous for its beautiful beaches, fabulous cuisine, historic sites, incredible biodiversity, and friendly people.

Air Canada Vacations General Manager Nino Montagnese said Air Canada’s Clean Care + program enables a safe and clean travel experience in the air, and that ACV has implemented new protocols for passengers at their arrival at their destination.

“We welcome you at the airport. Everyone wears a mask because they wore it during the flight. They arrive and they are greeted with our ground transportation. They are registered, socially distanced. Before getting on the bus, they are given a hand sanitizer, and for the safety of our customers, if the bus has 40 people, we will carry 20 during this transfer.

Agents can earn additional ACV & ME points by booking AMResorts hotels with Air Canada Vacations.

“We are very satisfied with the protocols that have been put in place by our hotel partners,” he said. “All the protocols have been put in place to make customers feel safe. “

Montagnese said Air Canada serves Cancun from Montreal on Saturdays and to Cancun from Toronto on Sundays and Fridays. They also fly to Mexico City from Toronto on Saturdays.

ACV will have 76 hotels available in Mexico in July, he said.

“We should definitely feel that sense of security, which is one of the core values of Air Canada Vacations and Air Canada,” he told webinar watchers.

“Mexico is a key destination for Canadians,” he said. “We love to go to Mexico. There is just tons to see and do there.

Montagnese said it was important for the business to understand this in order to be able to sell the destination more easily. Flights are operating at good capacity, he said, but some business partners seem reluctant to book.

“They don’t know if they should book their clients. But there are customers who want to travel. We just saw all the health and safety protocols that have been put in place, not just from our local airports here in Canada, but to the destination. “

Montagnese said ACV’s Care Flex Plus allows for reduced deposits ($ 100 per person instead of $ 250) and allows a customer to cancel with a full refund up to 25 days before departure. This package has been extended until September 7, 2020.

“If a customer is currently hesitant to book, this package should give you the tools you need to make them feel good about their booking,” he told agents during the webinar.

Capacity will be drastically reduced this winter, so Montagnese said it was the perfect time to book and plan this winter getaway.

He also said that Air Canada Vacations offers special rates for agents and that they encourage ACV partners to fly and experience the product.
